The goal is to restore the sanctuary and vestry (see footprint above) with the aim of retaining its original look and feel, yet creating a new and important identity for the community. Wherever feasible, we want to use existing materials; the tin ceiling, wood paneling, wood floors and stained glass windows. We will create a fully accessible, multi-functional community center that will be able to host a wide variety of activities and events. |
Flexibility of use will be a guiding principle so that both the upper and lower levels of the hall can be used independently of each other. By connecting the neighboring gardens we will create a unique and beautiful venue for many special events. By opening the building to the landscape we plan to engage the outdoors, the natural light and the views. This will connect the interior and exterior spaces and spatially transform the building. |
