Food On Film: Chef

Thursday, February 2nd, 2017 6:00 pm
$18, includes movie & small plate menu
sponsored by Seaside Liqours BUY TICKETS HERE There’s trouble abuzz in the fifth Food on Film series presented by Wellfleet Preservation Hall and Lola’s Local Food Lab, featuring fugitives from the law, from the kitchen, and from ones’ own psyche and moral center. This year's theme......Southern Odysseys: Culinary Sojourns. We'll be steppin’ lively like a Cat on a Hot Tin Roof! Our protagonists are all on a personal odyssey in search of redemption, which happen to take place in southern states, where cuisine and culture provide simple inspiration and remind us “the treasure you seek may not be the treasure you find.” The series will provide a nice dash of heat this winter and inspire some awesome small plates that will accompany each film. Thursday Feb. 2nd, tonight's feature: CHEF (2014) Directed by Jon Favreau. Starring Jon Favreau, Dustin Hoffman, John Leguizano, Scarlett Johansson and Robert Downey Jr. O for the freedom of the road! A charming (but Lola finds implausible) story about a chef who learns the true meaning of “eating his words,” Chef is a rollicking road movie with great music and a hot griddle, but does not accurately portray the rigors of service in a Food Truck. A fun escapist film that will make you want to invest in a Panini press.

Woods Hole To Wellfleet Film Series: SIDEMEN - THE LONG ROAD TO GLORY

Saturday, February 4th, 2017 7:30 pm
$12.00
BUY TICKETS HERE The summer of 2008, legendary bluesmen Pinetop Perkins, Hubert Sumlin, and Willie "Big Eyes" Smith were brought together by Director Scott Rosenbaum for an appearance in a feature film. During breaks, these bluesmen thrilled with their tales of a lifetime spent on the road and first-hand accounts of experiences with Robert Johnson, Howlin’ Wolf, Muddy Waters, Jimi Hendrix and The Rolling Stones. When they hit the road on a three-year tour, Rosenbaum was determined to capture this important and quickly fleeting history. Featuring interviews with The Allman Brothers, Aerosmith, The Dave MatthewsBand, The Rolling Stones, Bonnie Raitt, Johnny Winter, Shemekia Copeland, Joe Bonamassa, and others, this film is a moving story of personal triumph and great perseverance that preserves a legacy that is our last links to the origins of all popular music.

Fleet Movement Explorations

Sunday, February 5th, 2017 3:00 pm
Drop-in dance workshop, by donation
Fleet Movement Explorations is a structured improvisational dance class. We start with warm-ups based in internal body awareness such as developmental movement patterns or somatic exploration, often integrated with thematic material. Embodiment is evoked through sensing movement articulation, initiation, and alignment in space-weight-time, and the three dimensions. Warm-up experiences are used as creative material for structuring dance scores. Each dancer becomes an artistic director of their score, danced by the whole group.  Weather permitting we hold class outside, working with the language immediacy of the Natural World. We play spontaneously with forces, shapes, feelings, images, and ideas rather than specific dance technique. The class is basically informal, challenging, and fun, and a good movement workout. At times we will have guest teachers. All are welcome. Lead by Becky Burrill, Ed.D.—dance-improvisationist, artistic director, developmental-creative arts educator, writer, visual artist, join weekly notifications concerning class thru Becky at 508 237 0217 • rburrill@verizon.net
