Fleet Movement Explorations

Sunday, August 2nd, 2015 3:00 pm
Drop in dance workshop, by donation
Fleet Movement Explorations is an experimental dance class in which we explore, among other things, developmental movement patterns while sensing ourselves in space, weight, time, and the three dimensions. This is extended to explore the articulation of movement initiations and refinement of body alignments. We play with evoking movement though qualities of feeling, shape, force, idea, word and more. From this basis, we work out interactive improvisational skits. The class is basically informal, challenging, and fun, and a good movement workout. It plays spontaneously with forces, shapes, images, and ideas rather than specific dance technique. At times we will have guest teachers. All are welcome. Lead by Becky Burrill—dancer-choreographer, developmental-creative arts educator, writer, visual artist.

Movie in the Backyard: A SHOT IN THE DARK

Tuesday, August 4th, 2015 8:00 pm
Free & Open to all!
Our favorite summer tradition is back! Free outdoor movies in the garden behind the Hall, Tuesdays 8/4 and 8/18. Films start at dusk. Bring a blanket or lawnchair and bug spray. Snacks and beverages available at our concession stand. Great fun for kids and adults alike! Tonight's selection:The best Pink Panther flm ever made (in our humble opinion), featuring Peter Sellers in peak form as bumbling Inspector Clousseau and Elke Sommer as the gorgeous murder suspect. The second film in the series, A Shot In The Dark introduced the hilarous character portrayed by Herbert Lom, perpetually dismayed Chief inspector Dreyfus. This classic comedy is a nonstop parade of gags and pratfalls and pure delight.
