Internal Body Awareness For Women

Thursday, October 23rd, 2014 6:30 pm
3 Thursday workshops presented by Dr. Rhys Preston
To register please contact Dr. Rhys Preston directly at (612)232-1535 or email preston_chiropractic@yahoo.com.  $49.00 per class - $120.00 for all three - Sign a friend up and it's $39.00 per class Please note: For a comprehensive understanding of the material, signup for the entire series is reccommended, but not required. This 3-part women's health series will enable students to gain a thorough understanding of their interactive system of hormones.  In these workshops students will learn how to detect and eliminate food sensitivities and discover cost effective practical applications and solutions to hormonal imbalance. Learning how the female body functions will also empower attendees to make informed decisions regarding their health and wellness. Dr. Preston will provide practical applications and tools to implement immediately. Series overview: Symptoms of insomnia, weight gain especially around the middle, irritability, crying for no reason, sweet and cravings, are all indicators of hormone imbalance.  The original issue may have started with hormonal imbalance, adrenal gland fatigue or thyroid trouble.  All of these issues and symptoms are interrelated and affect one another.  It is impossible to alleviate thyroid issues without fixing the adrenal glands.  When the adrenal glands are fatigued (which are your 'stress handling' glands), the female hormones will be affected negatively resulting in weight gain, irritability, insomnia, hot flashes, fibrocystic breast disease and PCOS.  The most effective approach is to address all three systems, i.e. Adrenal Glands, Female Hormones, and Thyroid.   Class 1, Weds. 10/9:  Adrenal Fatigue: Stress, Survival, Symptoms and Healing - Adrenal fatigue occurs when the amount of stress overextends the capacity of the body (mediated by the adrenals) to compensate and recover from that stress. Once this capacity to cope and recover is exceeded, some form of adrenal fatigue occurs. Learn more about adrenal fatigue, signs and symptoms, coping with stress and solutions to healing.                      Class 2, Weds. 10/16: Balancing Female Hormones NaturallyConfused about female hormones?  Suffer from symptoms like hot flashes, insomnia, sweet and carb cravings, weight gain?  Learn the tools to prevent and manage these symptoms.  Your energy levels will improve and the fat will melt off! Class 3, Weds.10/23: Controlling & Regulating MetabolismThe thyroid gland controls the rate at which the body produces energy from food and therefore has a primary effect on overall energy levels.  It regulates digestion, oxygen consumption, and mobilization of fat from storage.  Learn why thyroid issues are difficult to treat, ultimately leading to sluggish energy and weight gain as well as accelerated aging. You will walk away with practical solutions and new paths to health.

Fleet Movement Explorations

Sunday, October 26th, 2014 3:00 pm
Drop in dance workshop, by donation
Fleet Movement Explorations is an experimental dance class in which we explore, among other things, developmental movement patterns while sensing ourselves in space, weight, time, and the three dimensions. This is extended to explore the articulation of movement initiations and refinement of body alignments. We play with evoking movement though qualities of feeling, shape, force, idea, word and more. From this basis, we work out interactive improvisational skits. The class is basically informal, challenging, and fun, and a good movement workout. It plays spontaneously with forces, shapes, images, and ideas rather than specific dance technique. At times we will have guest teachers. All are welcome. Lead by Becky Burrill—dancer-choreographer, developmental-creative arts educator, writer, visual artist.
