YOGA WITH ZOE WOLF

Thursday, May 24th, 2012 8:00 am
EVERY THURSDAY
hese vinyasa style classes are appropriate for all levels of experience, and are designed to facilitate students in forming a deeper connection with themselves and their surroundings. Students should be willing to practice new postures, but should also have knowledge of their own comfort levels. The goal of each class is to provide the student with a template for creating their own experience. The teacher is present as a guide for increased mind body awareness. ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR: ZOE WOLF "For me, yoga began as a physical challenge: a quest to keep my body in shape. After years as a competitive gymnast, I was craving a work out that stimulated both my strength and flexibility. Over the past seven years, my relationship with my practice has evolved immensely. I have studied with many teachers in Boston, on Cape Cod, and at Kripalu Yoga Center. I now understand how my asana practice affects every area of my life, from my relationship with myself, to my interactions with the rest of the world. For me, yoga has become a lifestyle that extends far past the edges of my mat! I have over 400 hours of Yoga Alliance approved Yoga Teacher Trainings. I completed my 200 Hour Interdisciplinary Teacher Training with Don and Amba Stapleton in Nosara, Costa Rica. I could not feel more grateful for or prepared by their amazing program, and I am ecstatic that I have the opportunity to share my experiences with others. I hope that I can inspire my students to seek their own yoga and be guided by their own inner light.  CLICK HERE for more info about Zoe Wolf Yoga.

ALL WORN OUT JUG BAND and FRIENDS

Saturday, June 2nd, 2012 7:30 pm
$10 at the door
The All Worn Out Jug Band  brings original jug band era music to Wellfleet Preservation Hall!  A post-revival Jug Band band on Cape Cod, its repertoire includes jug-band root music, blues, ragtime, old-time folk music and white-tradition gospel songs.  With roots in raucous New Orleans street bands, jug band music developed circa 1900 in the urban south (e.g. Louisville, and Memphis). The original music was a mix of Memphis blues, ragtime & Appalachian music played on a combination of traditional and makeshift instruments, The bands were street performers, made up of African American vaudeville and medicine-show musicians. Along with guitars, banjos and mandolins, typical jug-band instruments included washboards, washtub bases, and kazoos And always a jug. Leaving a little air space while buzzing their lips and half blowing, half humming into a jugs mouth, players produced distinctive mid- and lower-range harmonies. The bands flourished in Memphis, a "wet" oasis in a dry area. Beal Street was "hot."  Jug bands played a part in the development of the blues, however, in the 1930s, the depression and the devastating effect of radio on record sales brought the original jug-band era to a close.  The All Worn Out Jug Band is a group of friends with incredible talent,a passion for this music and for keeping the tradition alive.  $10 at the door
