This is a COMMUNITY DANCE to celebrate the green leaping loveliness of Spring, the return of the whales to our waters, and anything else you wanna dance about. Your free will donation will support more events like this at the hall. Beer and wine will be available for sale, so drink responsibly and dance with abandon. BUY TICKETS HERE Join us for an evening of reading and conversation between these two celebrated writers. Kevin Sessums is an American author, editor and actor from Forest, Mississippi. Sessums served as executive editor of Andy Warhol’s Interview magazine and as a contributing editor of Vanity Fair, Allure, and Parade. In 2007 Sessums published a memoir titled Mississippi Sissy, which is about the conflicted life of a self-aware gay boy growing up in the south. It made the New York Times Bestseller list and won the Lambda Literary Award for Best Male Memoir of 2007. St. Martins Press will publish his sequel to the bestselling Mississippi Sissy which is titled I Left It on the Mountain. Kevin is currently writing and working out of his home in Provincetown, MA. Taylor M. Polites is a novelist living in Providence, RI. He also grew up in the Deep South. After leaving a career in finance in New York City, he pursued novel writing and received an MFA in Creative Writing from Wilkes University where he was awarded the 2009 Norris Church Mailer Scholarship. He spent over five years living in Provincetown as he was working on The Rebel Wife. Published by Simon & Schuster and released February 7, 2012, it is his first novel. The Rebel Wife has been listed as a “book to watch out for” by O Magazine and is receiving great reviews in its first month of release. Kevin and Taylor will each read excerpts from their work followed by a conversation about two young men who wrote their way out of the deep south all the way to the tip of Cape Cod. Wellfleet Blossoms Weekend Emerging Artist Exhibit

As Wellfleet "Blossoms" from winter into spring,  a holiday weekend festival designed to celebrate and feature young and emerging artists of all kinds from Wellfleet and surrounding villages will be celebrated at the Hall and around town.. An ongoing feature of the weekend will be an exhibit of visual arts by the next generation of great artists to emerge from Cape Cod.  Work will be displayed in all three lobbies of the Hall from Friday, April 13 through Sunday, April 15 with a reception for artists, open to the public, on Saturday, April 14 from 3-5pm.  CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFO

TILE PAINTING WORKSHOP WITH JUDITH STILES

 WELLFLEET BLOSSOMS WEEKEND presents Tile Painting with Judith Stiles. This workshop, taught by Judith Stiles, introduces the basic techniques of painting ceramic tiles.  You will explore the use of colorful glazes on bisque tile using a variety of tools: brushes, ceramic pencils, chalks, and stencils.  Each participant will have a 6 x 6 inch tile to glaze which will be fired at the Newcomb Hollow Shop Studio.  (Finished tile pick-up after two days). The workshop is open to ages 9 to 99. No artistic experience necessary. Judith Stiles is the owner of Newcomb Hollow Shop & Gallery and has taught ceramics as a Visiting Professor at Skidmore College and headed the M.F.A. program at Pratt Art Institute. “From the Flower, Forms the Fruit… an Exploration in Pastel Drawing”
For Mother Nature, the process of nurturing and growing a single piece of fruit requires the patient passage of time and just the right growing conditions. For the budding artist, our creations will explore delicate pastels, a blank piece of paper and the scribble, swoosh or blending of layers of rich color. Come join us for this fun and exciting workshop in pastel drawing. All you need to bring is your curiosity. Our models will be beautiful fruits and vegetables. At the end of our class…you can have your art…and eat it too! The workshop is FREE but registration is required.  REGISTER HERE  Joyceanne Wlodarczyk has a Masters of Arts in ceramics and drawing from the Ohio State University. She was a professor of Fine Arts at the Universidad Interamericana in Puerto Rico for 13 years, where she tried to taste and draw every exotic fruit her students would bring her. She also has her NYS certification in Art as well as in Gifted & Talented Education. Joyce currently works as an Adjunct Professor at the State University of New York at New Paltz where she teaches in the Special Education Department. As a consultant teacher for various school districts in the Hudson Valley, Joyce energetically shares her wealth of knowledge in the Arts and in Education with teachers across the region….hoping to create a more humanistic and creative world.
