I am surprised I am an artist. I never went to art school. I didn't doodle or enjoy art as a kid. At the age of 48, I picked up a box of oil pastels on a whim and the craving for artistic creativity began. I paint every day now. Some days I just experiment and mash paint together to see what happens. Other days, I have a scene in mind and try to capture a feeling of place and time. Some paintings are serene and others chaotic. Side by side they contrast yet compliment each other. I like how the tension of one painting affects the serenity of the other. Juxtaposition, in life (and art) makes things more interesting.
